WHAT IF I WANTED TO LIVE THERE? READING AS AN ESCAPE…

I saw this image on Instagram yesterday and it made me pause because SO many times that’s exactly how I’ve felt when I've finished a book.

I’ve been an avid reader for as long as I can remember. In fact, my family nickname is Lou…because as a child I was obsessed with Mem Fox’s Koala Lou book and constantly demanded it be read to me (this nickname has unfortunately stuck…my dad still calls me Lou today!).

But I think right now, more than ever, reading has become an escape from our reality—it certainly has for me.

The world is in turmoil, and it leaves most of us feeling helpless.

The pandemic continues and we have wars, floods, famines, and global warming (to name just a few).

It’s pure chaos.

So, sometimes it’s nice to escape somewhere else. To live other people’s problems. To travel. To meet new people—new friends.

Is reading an escape for you?

If so, I hope my books have taken you places you really loved—somewhere you wanted to stay for a little longer.

P.S. If you’re looking for a new escape, my latest book (a Christian romantic suspense / cold case murder mystery) is now on pre-order at the discounted price of $2.99. It will go up to $5.99 after release day (2 April 2022).
